As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to an end, experts say a mental health crisis may just be beginning. The combination of isolation and economic distress that the coronavirus pandemic has caused is leading to increased anxiety and stress all over the world.

The mental health community is innovating to meet this need by offering teletherapy services. We interviewed Alon Matas, the founder of BetterHelp to learn more.

Matas says that today, a quarter of people need to see a therapist, yet many don’t seek help because services are either too expensive or inaccessible. Teletherapy seeks to remove these barriers by allowing therapists to meet with patients remotely and treat them online.

In a time when the need is great and the future is unknown, virtual mental health services like BetterHelp are bringing relief and hope.
